What are Invisible braces?

Many patients dream of having straight teeth, but the thought of having a visible brace can be a bit off-putting. Invisalign, allows patients to straighten their teeth discreetly.

Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment which straightens teeth without the use of traditional metal braces. It works by using sets of see-through aligners, made from clear medical grade plastic, to move teeth into their correct position. These aligners are custom-made for each patient, ensuring a comfortable, almost invisible fit.

We are Ireland’s leading experts in using Invisalign. We are the country’s number provider of Invisalign treatment and each of our Smile Specialists is a Registered Specialist Orthodontist.

How do Invisalign aligners work?

Your Smile Specialist will provide a comprehensive orthodontic consultation. We will discuss all your treatment options with you, Invisalign and traditional braces. As Specialist Orthodontists we can provide a broad range of treatments, our objective is to identify the best treatment for each individual patient.

If Invisalign is the right choice for you, we’ll take a 3D scan of your teeth and jaws. We use this scan to help us design you treatment. We focus on getting your teeth straight, your bite correct, and your centre line lined up. These things are important and you should never settle for less. In short, we want to give each patient the best possible smile.

Once we have designed your treatment, the scan and the orthodontic plan are sent to Invisalign headquarters where your custom-made aligners are manufactured.

Each set of aligners will gradually move your teeth. After about 2 weeks you move on to the next set and so on. Each patient will receive X sets at a time. It’s normal to see your orthodontist every 6-8 weeks to monitor your progression and collect new sets of aligners.

What are the benefits of aligners?

The number reason that most patients elect to get treated with aligners is that they are practically invisible. In fact, some people can’t even tell you’re wearing an aligner at all. But there are other benefits:

You won’t get food stuck in them as you would a metal brace.
They don’t hinder you cleaning your teeth.
They won’t irritate your mouth as wires and brackets do
You can take them out for important events
